Took this picture of Blue Jay two weeks back. I have a little story about Blue Jays if you will bear with me. About two months back I was at bird feeder station in Nature Preserve with a another young photographer taking pictures of the songbirds gathered here. We were talking about birds when we heard a Hawk call and we both immediately scanned the treetops looking for Hawk as all songbirds flew away EXCEPT the Blue jay..could not see a Hawk. About 5 to 10 minutes later heard the Hawk call again and birds flew away except Blue Jay..we could not locate Hawk then either. So a little while later it happen again and then we realized the sound of Hawk was coming from Blue Jay..I never knew this about them but researched them and found they are noted for doing this...the only reason I can think of is so that they have the food all for themselves...found this interesting.
Beautiful shot. In another month, you can shoot the furry little black blue jays.
He's a dirty bird ain't he...needs a napkin!!
