1st place
Quick...take a photo before the sailboat........ by Vickid

Flmngseabass: Way to go Vicki!! I voted for this!! I knew this would win or be close:):) Congrat's!!

biffobear: Quick reactions caught It well...R.

rvdb: Congrats Vicki on your first place win.

Rob

LynEve: Congratulations Vicki !!

corngrowth: Vicki, I've enlarged your image bigger than a full screen size image, and saw that the sailboat had anchored there (in a sealane?) without using the proper black anchoring sign in the mast.
A risky situation, because the people on the bridge of this ferry, responsible for a safe navigation, could have been brought in doubt now. To me bad seamanship of the sailors on this sailboat.
Fine capture however, and a good entry for the current contest.
Good Luck with it, my friend!

3rd place
Light trails on M66 by stylo

questjester: Congratulations in the contest, Chris! :)

jerseygurl: Congrats on taking 3rd place in the contest!!!!!!!!!

bfrank: Congrats on third place Chris!!!

Nikoneer: Well, Chris, I'm not so sure this is a "breaking the rules" photo as far as the art and craft of photography is concerned, but only as the law is concerned. Whatever the case, I absolutely love light trail photos ( like this one, this one, and this one), and this one is exceptionally well done and shows a real talent. A copy is going in my monitor's wallpapers folder, thanks loads! If the c-index was still being used I'd give this one very high marks indeed.

4th place
Breaking the Rules by Dunstickin

icedancer: Good one and good luck

gr8fulted: Uhm. the rule of thirds is not just horizontal. It's also vertical. as such this actually falls within the rule of thirds...just sayin'.

Pistos: What I like is that it breaks rules while keeping them in more subtle ways. The tall grass on the left and the grey clouds cause the image to be broken 1/3 to 2/3 in the vertical direction. The tops of the people's heads plus the blue sky/cloud line roughly falls on the 1/3 line. Nice results. It is because the rules are broken that the image traps the eye, such as the subjects not being large in the picture, and yet because of subtlety, the picture remains pleasing to the eye, so you continue looking.

5th place
Broken Rules by Ramad

Vickid: Perfect, textures and softness come through incredibly well, love the set up and capture. Best of luck in the contest.

LynEve: Well done Raj !!

trixxie17: I like the composition Raj though it may technically break the "rules"!
